Project Server Integration

Hello everyone,

our customer has at least 3 DAX 2012 R2 enviroments (test, dev, prod). I have a dedicated AOS for test, one dedicated AOS for dev and several AOS for prod. In addition we have an SQL-Cluster for prod and one SQL Standalone Server for test and dev.

We are planning to implement an Enterprise Portal Server and also a project server. So i will install a Sharepoint Enterprise Installation on a new server with the databases lying on the prod cluster (by the way - is it possible to store the sharepoint configuration database on the cluster and then split up Application databases between the cluster an the Stand alone SQL server depending on if the Enterprise Portal is prod, test or dev - but this is another question?!).

We will also install the project server on the virtual machine hosting the Sharepoint installation. Now it is clear that we have to install the proxy also on this server. And we want to install the Sync Services on the AOS machines.

Questions:

If we want a project server integration for all of our 3 environments (prod, test, dev) - do we have to install 3 project servers on 3 different sharepoint servers? Or is it possible to just install one project server and create 3 different "applications" as it is in Sharepoint? I'm not clear how the project servers is working but i think it is not possible to connect all 3 environments to just one project Server URL because if we change something in testsystem (e.g.) it will be synchronized to the project server which is also used in productive environment.

So is there anybody who can describe me project server in an environment with multiple AX systems - i couldn't find that mutch via google.

Thank you,

Thomas

Yes, it is possible to use the clusterized SQL Servers to hold the Sharepoint and Project Server databases.

I dont think it is a good idea to share EP and PS production environment with your test and dev environments. I know that it is possible to create diferente application pools to work with more than one EP for multiple AX instances at the same server, "maybe" it is possible to do the same with Project Server.

look at the following link for multiple EP and AX instances:
