Implementation of version control

Hi All,
 
Currently, we are using AX 2012 R2 in our production environment. Changes and customizations are made in the USR layer and we want to implement version control for code movement. Kindly let me know whether codes should be moved to CUS layer before implementing version control. And also let me know whether CUS layer needs separate license, And whether Version control be implemented from USR layer.

    You can use source control in USR layer, but there was a reason not to use USR layer at all. Some customizations (custom roles or something) went to USR layer and it was good to keep the separation. Sorry, it's a long time since I used AX 2012 and I don't remember the details.
     
    You don't need any special license for CUS layer. That's the layer for you, the customer, to put your changes to.

    You can also refer to below link for details on how to implement version control on AX2012 version 
     
    You do not need seperate license for development on CUS layer.
