Dear sir/madame,

After I create the Production Order, the status is Created. But I cannot change its status to Released, or Started...since they are all grey out.

Is there anything that I need to check or setup?

Thank you!

    HI VNPeace,

Check the Status tab of the Production Parameters.

It will manage when it is allowed to set a certain status from the current status and whether you can skip one or more statues.

You do not manually change the status, you process it through the update process.

    Thank you so much!

I can change the status now, I posted the Picking List, I click Report As Finished, and it said "Journal has not been posted", but in fact the Posted check box was not checked, it means nothing was posted. When I click on the END button, it gave the error: "Inventory dimension Batch number must be specified.". But in fact, I have turned of the batch dimension. If I do "Report As Finished" from the form: Inventory and warehouse management==> Inquiries ==> Bill of materials ==> Report As Finished. Then it will not ask me for the batch number. Please can you help, I nearly get there. Tks so much!

You need to understand the relationships. If the parent item has no batch then it must be related to an item that you are backflushing. You cannot alter the batch flag whilst any transactions exist, so when and how did you deactivate it?

Is your finished good have be Batch Controlled?

If yes, just make sure that you specific batch no. for receiving finished goods

    HI VNPEACE,

Also check the BOM parts when you are using backflushing for batch controlling. Please check all items related to the BOM parts and finished product.

With just some words in this forum I really cannot understand your setup. I can be hard guessing what is wrong.

    Thank you so much!

I follow the status process and it works.

Regarding the batch, unfortunately we are having the Batch setup as mandatory. I am not sure what to do now.

Now you have to populate the batch number in the RAF journal to give your finished product a batch number, that needs to picked and registered when you sell it..................

Thank you so much WEARERISKI and thanks for other answer so far. I already understand and I am now able to setup the STATUS Process and let the Production Order running in the process that I want to. It is great.

Just another thing: both Product & BOM component are having Batch Number as mandatory. When we report an item as finished it is easy for us to enter the batch number. But once the Lines are brought over the Bills Of Material screen, how about the BOM components? It is keeping asking me about the Batch Number for the components.

If there are batch controlled BOM components you need to ideally not-auto flush the journal, do not post it and register the batches. If you set the production parameter for reservations at start and you have stock in the warehouse where the pick list is produced it will suggest the batch, alternatively specify the batch against the production order BOM. It is all about control and knowing what you used when and where, along with the traceability which generally makes it very difficult to automate this process without ruining the true traceability.
