Commitment is not available at Budget Module, how can I enable it without French regulatory ?

Hello all,

Now I'm facing the 3 problem with the Trade Agreement and Commitment on Budget.

1- After searching I found that I must enable French Regulatory under System Administrator --> Setup --> License Configuration, and then go to French Regulatory under public sector.

which I have done at testing environment to enable the commitment and using it with trade agreement because it's not active at the production server.

2- After searching also I found that this only happen at Dynamics AX 2012 Version RTM, but we using Dynamics AX 2012 R3 so the commitment must be enabled by default without doing anything at License configuration also here's screenshot to prove that commitment is installed without public sector, by going to the Budgeting --> Setup --> Budgeting Parameters --> Number Sequences

Please note this is from the production server

3- Now after checking it, I need to enable commitment without using public sector.

because when enable it with public sector, the whole cycle of Purchase Requisition is mandatory changing depend on Microsoft Notes by using purchase consolidation to create a purchase order from purchase requisition.

So, how I found the commitment at production server ?

If it's needed to installed from license configuration, is there's any way to avoid consolidation purchase requisition and just keeping the normal cycle ?

    Hi Mauricio,

I need to use budget commitments to control those contracts, but not as reporting wise.

I would like to have them at the system to be a cycle to the customer, not just as a reports.

That is correct, commitments are also linked to this French regulatory parameter, nevertheless this can be used by any legal entity (with public sector of course). I have some Belgian customer using all this functionality without any problem, but the thing is that this is starting other processes/validations that you may not want to have.

If you only use cost commitment (budget commitments) and you use an specific dimension to get those contracts controlled (reporting wise) will that work?

    Hi Mauricio.

I agreed with you 100% also let me add to your gentle words and please correct to me if I'm wrong.

There's a checkbox at Budgeting Parameters called " Commitments (France) "

when I uncheck it the " Purchase Order " button working normally at " Released Approved Purchase Requisition ". but when I choose the same Vendor who's have commitment assigned to the trade agreement and click " Purchase Order " I getting error.

For the customization, I will not going through it because I never prefer to do it unless there's no any solution really.

    the business process is,

1- the customer have a contracts for services and they need to adding this contracts details into the system " I applied purchase agreement for this "

2- this contracts have operations and starting / ending date also, customer needs to reserve at the ( beginning of contract / year ) from the budget for the whole contract and also can see the budget information for each operation " I applied commitments for this and assign it to the purchase agreement "

    3- Example :

Contract Number 000 --> needs to be at the system

Operation 1 = 50000$ --> needs to reserve from budget for each operation from the contract

Operation 2 = 30000$ --> needs to reserve from budget for each operation from the contract

If there's any workaround or solution can fit this requirements instead of what I doing it will be great and helpful to share with me please

    Hi Ahmed,

It is correct to say Commitments are linked to Public Sector functionality so out of the box is not possible to do what you are requesting. (FRA) About commitments (Public sector) | Microsoft Docs

It is also not recommended to do a customization to use partially a functionality that is linked to a configuration key (Public sector).

My question is why do you want to use commitments, what is the business process that requires you to use it?

    Regards

    Mauricio
