Lookup Fields and Mapping

Trying to remove the field mapping for lookup fields related to an account.  For an example: if I'm creating an opportunity from an account page, I'd like the account field for the opportunity to be autopopulated.  However, there are other lookup fields referencing other accounts that are not the primary account on the opportunity that I do not want to be mapped.  Is there any way to remove these mappings?

Example:

Account --> Opportunity (Primary sale)

Distributor --> Opportunity (Associated)

Manufacturer --> Opportunity (Associated)

    Hi,

    You can configure the mapping in relationship settings.

    Here are the steps:

    • Go to System Setting -> Customizations -> Custome the System.
    • Expand Account entity and click 1:N relationships.

    • Open the relationship (lookup) you want to configure (between Account & Opportunity).
    • Click on Mappings and remove the unwanted mapping.

    Once you remove the mapping for other lookups, it won't automatically populate.

    I hope this clarifies and answers your query.

    Best,

    Wahaj

    Hi Wahaj,

    Thanks for the prompt response. However, when I go to delete the mapping, it says it is unable to as it is required.  Any thoughts on why that could be?  The lookup fields it is referencing are not set as required fields.

    Hi,

    It's by design, you can't remove this mapping. You can use some JS Code to clear the mapped field's value.

    Hi,

    Sorry I forgot to mention some system mappings cannot be removed.

    In this case, as Mehdi suggested, you have to register a JS Function on Load of the form to reset the lookups (if form type is create).

    Thanks,

    Wahaj

    Hi,

    One quick questions, the lookups you mentioned are System Lookups or your custom lookup fields?

    Thanks,

    Wahaj

    Hi Wahaj,

    The lookups are custom fields referring to system fields.
