Copy paste lookup field value from a parent entity to a child entity

Hi CRM colleagues,

I want to copy paste the value from several lookup fields from a parent entity (account) to child entity (priceoffer)

I have several lookup field to copy/paste : Sales representative, Customer country, Customer language, Customer payment mode.

Those fields are on the both entity with same type, same mandatory rule, same target, ...

For sure I tried to use a workflow but it doesn't work as my fields are mandatory on the child entity form but not filled on create of the record.

How can I deal with that ? Do I need specific development to do so ? If yes, is there any example of code lines ?

Thanks !!

Xav

    Hi

Our use case is the following :

    1. Sales representative creates their account

    2. Customer service transform prospect into a customer in the CRM system and fill mandatory lookup fields (sales representative, country, payment method, language, ...)

    3. Sales representative creates their Sales offer on an existing customer that already have the mandatory inputs

    4. When the sales rep creates its sales offer, the mentionned fields are already loaded from the account linked (fields needs to have values on create and not after saving).

    5. The fields can then be modified on the sales offer if needed

    Regards

    Xav

    Hello Xav,

Before I will recommend anything can you please give me your usecase for that copying because depending on your scenario implementation can be different as well.
