How do I make AX show more BOM levels in BOM Calculation report?

ReportReport

Hello,

Does anyone know how I can allow this AX report to show me more levels than just two? In our previous system we could see up to 10 levels of sub-BOMs broken out, but AX is limited to 2.Please help me on this as it is incredibly difficult for us to do business while just looking at two BOM levels at a time on such report. We would like to print a report for one finished good and see its entire make up.

Thank you so much!

Stock Parameters - Bill of Material Tab - Max number of levels. I believe you can have up to 40.

As standard if you have a BOM item in the report it will explode it.

Not sure if this is it or not, but that report seems to go off of BOM calculations.  Those calculations I think are done during the estimation phase of a production order, but I think you can also do batches of them.  Additionally, there's a parameter in Inventory Management > Setup > Parameters > Bills of materiels (tab) that's called "Max. BOM level".  The default value here I believe is 40, but check on yours.  It may be set to something smaller.

So, check that parameter, and also check that your BOMs have been calculated.

Yeah, my system is set up to allow 40 BOM levels and all BOMs are active and calculated. I think most of the problems stem from the default report in AX. I know the default reports within AX are clunky at best. Thanks for the help though.

    Hi Steven,

I too have the same problem. My BOM level configuration is also 40. But when i generate a report, i could see only some multilevel BOM showing up all its levels in report whereas some BOM's still doesn't show levels beyond 1. What might be the cause?

In this case it would be either the data - so the effectivity dates of the BOM or lines, or that the lines are configured correctly, then failing that the report filtering or the report design. Probably start with the data.

I found the solution. In my case, the BOM calculation group for each item makes the difference. Each item belongs to different BOM calculation group. In Calculation group level, there is a Stop Explosion checkbox. If that is checked in, the BOM calculation will not  perform for further items in that BOM. If that is not checked in, then BOM calculation will perform for all further levels.

BOM calculation group form is located in -> Inventory Management -> Setup -> Bill of materials -> Calculation group -> select your calculation group -> setup tab -> Stop explosion. That's it. Then the system will handle all BOm calculations.
