Budget Planning- Using financial dimension which is not part of account structure

Hello Everyone,

While configuring budget planning, i have come across "budget planning rules" which will allow to use financial dimensions which are not part of account structure. We have similar situation where we need to generate child plans based on the combination of two dimension in D365  ( Example : department +Branch ).

Steps I followed :

1. Create a new financial dimension and add values to it ( this dimension should drive the distribution of my parent budget plan)

2. Now advanced rule structure, i have added the segment as new dimension X with a value to it

3. Configure account structures-> setup-> budget planning rule -> added a condition where department is a and branch b , it should use dimension X

4. Once after the setup , i have added the operation unit to organizational hierarchy and Generated budget plan. I have not added this dimension to my account structure as I'm using this only for budget planning.

With this setup, When I generate budget plans from GL, System is excluding the transactions having the dimension combination (dept+branch), although I have transactions on that. Could anyone suggest how this can be setup.

Thank You!

    Hello Madhuri21,

I think you should include financial dimension (BudgetCenter_GORE) defined in budget planning rule in Dimensions for budgeting form. Then setup a ledger dimension set that includes all dimensions, that is DEPT+BRANCH+BudgetCenter_GORE, and assign it to a layout into Budget Planning Configuration form so that it is set in budget plan process used in budget plan to take GL transactions.

    Regards,

    Natalia
