Kit items (without using retail module)

Hi All,

I guess there are a couple of ways to deal with kit items in D365 SCM.

I tried to use the 'Bundle' function by enabling the Bundle flag on the Released product details page under the General FastTab.

However, it does not meet 2 following requirements:

1)   to be able to print a KIT item and its components underneath on sales documents like sales packing slip and sales invoice.

2)   to ship what is available now and then additional accessories later but these are all included in the KIT.

Do you have any idea to meet these requirements using the standard functionality?

Thank you.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi ShawnDEV,

    1) Related to the documents, you can use the configurable business documents part of Electronic Reporting.

    2) Can you explain this requirement with some more details?

    Hi,

I mean if we use the bundle function and if one of kit components is not enough in stock, then the system gives an error message when posting packing slip based on ‘picked’ quantity that the bundle’s component is missing and thus the packing slip is not able to be posted. This means that the system does not allow us to ship what is available now and then other components later in time in the same sales order. Basically backorder is not available when it comes to the bundle function.

    Hi ShawnDEV,

For the second requirement, there is no solution out of the box. You can consider a customization.

    Hi ShawnDev,

I think in this case you can use Bill of materials (BOM) feature .

just refer to this : www.encorebusiness.com/.../

and to get idea about BOM and available features then refer to (Ms Docs) :

    docs.microsoft.com/.../bill-of-material-bom

    Hope this will help.

    Regards,

    Hi,

BOM explode function does not seem to be the right approach because once we explode the BOM, the bom item itself becomes cancelled and thus the kit price is also gone away and this BOM item does not appear on the sales invoice nor sales packing slip.

    Please share your thought.
