How do I create a new record type (for contacts)?

Trying to create a record type in Contacts, but can't figure out how.  Help much appreciated!  Thank you

    I'm trying to create a Contact record type that distinguishes hireable candidates from the hiring manager contacts that want to hire them.  The relevant fields in each are so different that it would be great if I can designate which is which, so that users will receive the appropriate view.  (Candidates are military veterans, whose profiles include military assignments, service status, etc., which are irrelevant for "normal" contacts.)

    Are you looking to add a new Contact to an Account or Vendor Record? Can give more details on what you are trying to do?
