Total Weekly Hours Field on Time Entry Screen

Hi All,

Just wondering what is the best approach to showing a total users hours for a week on the Time Entry screen in the

Project Resource Hub app and the Project Service app?

Users have requested that they see their total time entered for a particular week as they are entering it. They also want to see it in hours.

I initially thought that I might add a read-only field in the white space above the time entries panel but I am open to any suggestions

or ideas.

Thanks,

jason

    Hi Jason,

Probably for fully licensed users to use only the Project Service App is enough. For Team Member licensed users, they are/will be enforced to access only the Project Resource Hub app.

The standard behavior of Time Entries view allows users to see the total entries time, by selecting the week. If you want to chose a custom period (e.g. from last Tuesday to this Wednesday) check if the Schedule Board or Resource Utilization view helps (especially for billable time).

    Kind regards,

    Alex

Thanks Alex, but what I am really after here is the total duration of work during a week or month.

For example, if a user enters five time entries for the week, each of various durations all adding up to 36 hours.

I want to know where I can see or display that 36 hours.

Users need to know if they have completed the full 40 hour week and would also like to see the number accumulate as they enter time.

I can't understand why it's not part of the Project Resource App, surely everyone wants to know how much time they have entered in a week without having to get out the calculator :-)

    Hi,

That's exactly it but that extra part is not showing in my instance. is it something I need to turn on?

The view that comes out of the box with PSA has the control that you can see in my screenshot. The one in your screenshot doesn't. It seems a standard view. I can't  tell why this is and how it got to be like this but it is not the view you would get now. Probably work looking at your solution and see what changes there are. I can't really add much more.

Thanks, what you have provided is great.

I might raise a ticket with MS about it and get them to explain.

    Cheers,

    Jason

    Hi All,

    Found a solution!

Raised an MS ticket but they haven't arranged a call yet but in the meantime found this:

    https://daytodaydynamics365.com/dynamics-365-project-service-automation-helpful-time-entry-and-project-approval-views/

So the gird view wasn't available at all, so I had to create as described in the article above.

It worked a treat and this view is much better and more logical.

I'm still going to press MS on why it didn't come OOB and wasn't even a selectable option in the grid properties

Just to close this out, MS came back to me and confirmed that this was the correct approach.
