    Thanks Ludwig for the reply,

Your answers says that you have good amount of real time experience .

I have one doubt that assume that client financial period is  APR - MAR and  transferred the opening balances also and current financial period has been closed ( 31st MAR 16 ) in AX and posting the current period transactions also regularly till date.

The question is  client didn't process the inventory closing from last JAN 16 , now if user wants to  inventory calculation process , then system does not allow as fiscal period has been closed .

In this scenario , On which date i need to run the inventory calculation process and what is the impact on the last year financial entries ,what would be the implications and how to over come this issue ?

What is the difference between Recalculation Vs closing ?

Which process creates additional cost adjustment entries either Recalculation Vs Closing ?

    Hi lally,

I think that we cannot answer this question comprehensively here as many things are not known.

Yet to go forward, I would recommend that you create a copy of your live system and then do a step-by-step test of the different scenarios.

For example, first run an inventory close for April 16, May 16, etc. until the current month and note the result by running the inventory value report and exporting all adjustment transactions posted.

Then reverse all prior inventory closes, open your prior year - probably with the help of a developer if it is closed - and do the same process starting from January 16.

By comparing the inventory values and adjustments posted, you can assess whether it is sufficient running the closing process for whole year 2016 or whether running it for the period from April onwards is sufficient.

I believe that running the process for April onwards should be sufficient but if you want to get this proved, there is no other way than testing what difference it makes running the closing process from January onwards.

    Hope this helps

    All the best,

    Ludwig
