Dashboard creation - adding a list of email messages related to cases

Hello,
I am working on creating a new dashboard for agents and I want to add a view of the incoming emails related to the cases the agents are working on.
In my solution, I created a report based on the records "Email Messages", but is that the right thing to do?
Afterwards, I go to my new dashboard and click on list to get my new email messages list, but I do not see it. What am I missing?

    I finally figured it out. The email messages are in a table...did not expect that.
    So I added the table Email messages and then was able to create a view in order to add it to the dashboard.
