Hi,
I want to change the field type of ID column from String to whole number.
I cannot do directly, Is there any alternative of doing the same.
Please suggest.

you can't change the type of an existing field. If is a custom field you can eventually delete it (and it will remove the data inside the field) and create it again (and in case you need to copy the values, create the new field first, copy the value, delete the old field)

Yes, you are right.
Can you please let me know is it possible to enter the string field value (values are integer only but stored as string) into whole number field and can it be done by workflow. I need to update all the previous records as well.
I want to avaoid the use of export and reimport or any console application for this purpose.
In case anyone else happens upon this in their searches. The XRMToolbox app Attribute Manager can change an attribute/column type. However, be aware that if existing data conflicts with the data type of the new attribute, that data will not come across.
