Products variants: Mass product variants release

Hi,

We are setting up an import process for released products. The idea is to import about 100 products with a defined Product Dimension Group (using Style). Is there a way to automate the release of product variants once they are created? So, if I create 100 product masters with a set of variants for each product record, I would like those variants to be released automatically. If not possible, is there a way to release all variants that have not been released yet?

Hi,

To release product variants, please follow the following steps:

1. Click Product information management > Common > Products > Product masters.

2. Select a product master, and then click Release products in the Product authorization group on the Action Pane.

3. Select product variants in the Product variants group, or click Select all.

4. Click the Select companies link, and then select the companies that you want to release the variants to.

5. Click OK to open the Product release session batch dialog box.

6. Select the Show Infolog upon failure check box to be notified if the release is not completed.

7. If the product master of the variants has not already been released to the company, select the Include product master check box.

Hi Charlotte,

thanks for taking the time to reply and type this answer. The process is perfectly described but I wasn't clear on the struggle we are having, which is the actual creation of the product dimensions and product variants.

I did find a solution though, which is using Data Management.

Steps 1,2,3 are done within 1 single import project in Data Management, set with execution sequence.

Step 1: Stage and import template with Data Management using Released Product Creation V2

Step 2: Stage and import template with Data Management using Released Products V2. Mark imported master products as "Generate variants automatically" as Yes. Use Data Management and use Products V2 file

Step 3: Stage and import template with Data Management using Product master Styles template

Step 4: Use Product filter with criteria "Is after" to filter on newly created records. Select all and follow the Release products process described by Charlotte above.
