Worker, Personal Contacts and External Applicant Primary Address

Is there a reason why when creating the first address for a Worker, Worker Personal Contact or External Applicant that the 'IsPrimary' check box is ticked by default? Will there be any impact elsewhere in AX if we remove this?

    Hi Penelope,

The primary address is used to find at least one address on several processes. An example (not related to workers) is a sales order would like to find an address with the purpose 'invoice'. If there is no address with this purpose found, it will look for the primary address. I'm aware that some functionality on the workers email address was not working if it was not set to primary. I expect that also e.g. the recruitment process tries to find primary addresses. I have not checked it.

I would recommend not changing the logic. What would be the reason to not have a primary address? If needed, you can change it when you have multiple addresses.

    Hi Andre

It is possibly that the Recruitment letters require the Primary Address. The Primary address and contact information displays wherever the user can access the DirPartyLookup Form. It looks as if we need a hotfix for the Private location security, despite the fact that the Primary contact information and Primary Address is marked as Private, it is still displayed on the DirPartyLookup form.

    Hi Penelope,

If you are logged in with System administrator rights, the Private filtering is ignored. Can you update if you have tested with this role only? Which other roles were used? can you also mention the exact AX 2012 version you are using?

    Hi Andre

I have been using a test role, this is customised role based on the standard Sales Clerk role. This role does not have access to any HR related menu items. The role is also not included in the Private location security setup, therefore it ideally should not see any addresses or contact information which is marked as 'Private'. We are on R2 of AX 2012.
