Importing Fixed Assets with two value models using DIXF

Hi all,

I fail at importing fixed assets with a fixed asset group connected to two value models. I'm using the DIXF fixed asset entity.

The assets are created but only have one value book (one related record in the table AssetBook). Depending on which of the two value models / bookId's I enter into the imported file the corresponding value model is created in AssetBook. But I fail at having both of them created.

I haven't been able to locate any questions on this topic, so I'm thinking I must be missing something basic.

N.b. I have tried using the value separator to define both value models in the BookId field in the import file. The result was that a new value model was created (in AssetBookTable) with a name consisting of the two values and the value separator (e.g. "X|Y").

    Hi Dapet,

The value separator is only used for some entities, not this Asset entity. Have you tried to create a file with two rows per Asset? One line per AssetBook? The general Asset information then can be the same in each line. It will not create duplicate assets f you specify the AssetId.

Otherwise you can create a new entity using the wizard based on the AssetBookTable to support additional value models.

    Hi Dapet,

Can you post your results and process to upload the two value models ?

Thanks for your help and sorry for the late response!

Creating a new entity for import of a second value model turned out to be the easiest solution, for me.

I made a few attempts with reading the FA on two separate lines in the import file but got errors regarding overwriting data in the table AssetBookTable. I tried updating the target mapping to remove assetbooktable since I wasn't interested in importing data to this table, but the alternative approach of creating a new entity proved more straightforward and successful at once. However, I think the entity wizard failed so some manual work with the entity was required.

    Hi all,

Refer below the steps to import TWO value model using DIXF Framework.

You have to run asset import file twice using Asset entity with different value model in the BookID field.

    1. Import assets with first value model book in Book ID field (Source target mapping field name BookID)
    2. Create a new file with other book ID (or) Change the BookID field in the CSV file
    3. Import the new file.

DIXF Framework will check for the asset existance, If Exists asset details will be updated. So no news asset will be created. (Make sure, you have not modified any asset information except BookID)

DIXF Framework will check for value model (AssetBookTable) existence for with AssetID and BookID. While we import the second file, New BookID won't be there for the Asset. DIXF will create this second model as the new value mode to the respective asset.
