Super slow web client vs. Desktop RTC Client

Hi, i'm the IT Manager of a smaller company that just moved from NAV 2009 to Dynamics 365 Business Central (version 13.0.27183.0).

Initially everyone was setup to use the web client, which works ok although it quickly became apparent that anyone doing lots of data entry was quickly becoming frustrated with the product. It's just generally slow, the screens aren't setup properly for the wide excel-type columns, it seems to miss keystrokes quite consistently (you type a word and one letter will be missing). Also has issues entering multiple rows in batch-type work (after say 13 rows it might show an error message). We did some troubleshooting with our server but cpu & ram usage were quite low, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. The Dynamics 365 vendor had no other suggestions except to use the classic desktop RTC client.

I've installed the RTC client and well it's just faster, like the old 2009 version. Productivity has probably increased by 25% or more just because of the more responsive interface.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Is there any way to speed up the web version?

Is it true that the RTC client will be going away in a future version? I'm especially worried about that now!

TIA!

The earlier version of BC was quite slow, but it's getting better and better with the recent ones. It's currently on version 15 and RTC is gone. Because BC is using web browser, it's going to be hard to compete with the speed of RTC or Windows client.

You can try upgrading to the latest version and play around with it, but you will lose the RTC client.

    Hi,

I do agree that Business Central Webclient is bit slow.

Although if you need enter the data faster, you can use Edit in Excel to enter your data faster.

If Edit in Excel option is not present you can customize use Import Export actions on your page.

Secondly, you can even copy and paste your data from Excel.

Also, to make the Data Entry faster you can use keyboard shortcut and use combination of Enter(Return) and Tab to navigate from fields.

Last thing, try using Modern client App for Windows.

Let me know if you need help further.

Yes, with the new BC 15 version we have only web client and no RTC.

There are a lot of improvements made compared to the version you are on, although the performance on windows client will be better compare to the web. I believe we had the same transition and issues when we moved from classic version to RTC and slowly the RTC got much better.
