Dear All,

I have a custom Form which has many tables as datasources and shows the data of all its tables fields and methods in one grid.

I want the data to be in excel. so I click export to excel button. the data is very Huge, 20000+  records.

its taking huge to export and some times its stuck.

Please suggest how to export the data faster to excel.

Thank you,

Praveen Kumar

This has been mentioned a few times in the last few days but depending on the level and complexity of the export and the level which you wish to manipulate the data you should consider an excel add-in for this kind of work.

They link directly into the tables in AX and extract information into the format you require and a lot more adaptable and flexible than standard AX reports -  especially for things like vendor transaction analysis. Both come directly into excel and can be manipulated in the same way as a standard excel worksheet. Atlas seems a lot more adept at dealing with complex reports than the Dynamics Excel Add In, however.

I wouldn't use direct export from a form for a huge amount of data. Consider using Data Import Export Framework, it supports Excel and it should be many times more efficient.

Thank you for your reply Martin and Bruce,

In my case I have a custom form which has 2 tables(inventSum,InventDim)  as datasources and they are joined with other tables through query classes to filter the data based on user selection.

I'm not very sure how I can utilize DIXF in my situation and I do not have any expertise in using that tool. Kindly suggest.

    Thanks,

    Praveen

Your options depend on how complex the thing is. Can you build what you need as an AOT query? Then you could use it in Excel add-in, or maybe even for a DIXF entity. Maybe the whole idea to take the data from the current form is wrong and you should first design the query. (You might use it for the form too, at the end.)

It also depends on how important the requirement is. If it's something that's used often and must be very fast, it's worth more effort than if it's something that nobody actually needs and the user was just lazy to add a filter.
