error message when trying to create positive pay file

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi

When trying to create positive pay file through payment journal, error message " the length of the string is 34, but it must be less than or equal to 30 characters." When I change the vendor name to below 30 characters , it works. But my question is the vendor name is setup for 50 characters , so why its giving this error.

any fixes please.

    Hi Gary

Look like bug in coding, use debugger to find error line in object, it may be field in table or global/local variable declared in wrong size ,after change and compile object

    Hi Rob

Thanks for replying. We are using NAV 7.0(2013) , Canada(vancouver). I think its a customization done by the consultant who implemented it.I am a beginner with NAV development environment, will need some time to figure out the development process and how to correct the entries. I found the vendor table , but not able to find the vendor name field  in the other table.

    Hi Gary,

What version and localization of NAV are you using?  Is the Positive Pay feature country-specific (it's not in the North America localization), an add-on, or customization?  It sounds like a bug in the design where the Vendor Name field length in one table was set to be less than the standard field length for it in the Vendor table.  This is something that could be fixed through development, but who would do that depends on your answer to the first couple questions above.

    Regards,

    Rob
