Restrict items for certain customers

Is there a way in NAV 2015 to restrict certain items for certain customers?

for example, some of our customers are only authorized to have some of our items in their stores, we cannot sell them only what’s authorized. It’s fairly common at big supermarkets.

Is it possible to restrict in the item card that this item can only be sold to all customers except customer A, Customer B, and customer C?

Thanks

you could try to solve it with security filters. for that follow:

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh166853(v=nav.80).aspx

or by customization: add a new field "Customer No" to table item. so you could filter the items, which are allowed only for one customer. if items are allowed for more than one customer, then you'll need a relation table item-customer.

it’s not a security issue here.

all I need is that when entering a sales order, if customer A is selected, and item B is punched in, there should be an error box saying that this item is not authorized

I don't think that is possible in standard navision, you have to do customization to achieve it.

I remember doing this for a client where we added a new table which linked to customer and the users enter the items in the new table for that customer which are not authorized and then we do a validation check on the sales line if that item exists for that customer in that table then throw an error. You can do the logic vice versa, it depends how much data you need to maintain.

ok, then make it with my 2. suggestion. you'll need a new table with at least 2 fields item no. and customer no. then you need a customization in trigger no.-onvalidate in sales line where you check, if the item no. is allowed according the values in the new table. to maintain the new table you need a new page.

We have this issue because some customers don't have a liquor license, which means that we can't sell them liquor.

Related:  we have customers that use our products as a component of their end-products that they resell;  if they give us a resale certificate then we don't charge sales tax, if we have a resale certificate on hand, then no tax is charged.  Not all products sold to a customer are tax exempt, if they are supply-type consumables, then tax is charged.

Both issues are item AND customer related, in combination, and also require maintenance of licensing/certificate information.  And it's not just customer-related, but ship-to related.  Some customers may have locations with or without the necessary license/certificate.

This isn't some rare need, just one long ignored by NAV.
