Batch Job Executing Since 10.41 Under Admin With a Blank Job Description and No Tasks

All:

We have have a "Rouge" Batch Job that has been executing in both our Test and PROD environments under the Admin account since 10.41 was applied.

It has a blank job description and no tasks, BUT it executes about every 3 minutes.

It is NOT a recurring batch job, so it must be initiated from outside of D365 (?)

I am viewing this under Sys Admin.

Has anyone seen this before?

Quite annoying and floods the Batch Job grid with entries

Thanks

Paul

    Update:

Now I notice another Batch Job (Recurring/Daily - so it is Waiting in Batch Jobs, unlike the one I reported above), with no batch job description, has 1 task, BUT the task description is blank.  The Class Name is SysBatchDailyApplicationMaintenanceScheduler

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for bringing it up, I haven't noticed it until now.

It is definitely related to the update, and not from an external system.
This is my freshly deployed local one-box development machine I today upgraded to 10.0.41 from 10.0.39. Started right around when it was finished installing.

My hunch is that it's related to process automations in F&O; If I have time tomorrow I might debug it.

I found some debugging time; The reason is process automation.

The jobs gets created by ProcessAutomationPollingEngine.executeApplicationBatchServices().
If no jobs (scheduled and system) are due for execution, it will still create the header but won't update the caption.

batchHeader.save() should not be executed in case no tasks gets added to it (batchHeader.addRuntimeTask). That's the method that set's the caption also.

I'd say it's a bug in process automation, and should be submitted as such so it can be fixed.

I opened a ticket with Microsoft and they confirmed the issue.  It is a bug which has been assigned the number #969340
