Printing out of D365FO (cloud) is extremely slow

After the invoice was generated, it takes a long time for it to come out at the printer. Apparently it goes from D365 to a server in Azure and then to our printer server before it starts printing.

Is there a way to get this faster or to bypass it to go first to an Azure server? Any check-out at a store prints a receipt fast, so D365FO should be able to generate and print out the invoice quickly for the customer that stands their at the order desks.

It is not just the invoice printing that is so slow, all printing out of D365FO is slow.

Does anybody else experience this slowness and have found a solution for this?

Thank you

RE: Printing out of D365FO (cloud) is extremely slow

Thank you for bringing up the issue regarding the slow printing process in D365 Finance and Operations. I understand the importance of generating and printing invoices quickly for a seamless customer experience. Let me provide you with some insights and suggestions.

The printing speed can be influenced by several factors, including the network infrastructure, printer configuration, and server performance. Here are a few things you can consider to potentially improve the printing speed:

Printer Configuration: Ensure that the printer settings are optimized for performance. This may include adjusting the print quality, paper size, and other relevant settings based on your requirements.

Network Connectivity: Check the network connectivity between the D365FO system, the Azure server, and the printer server. A stable and well-configured network can significantly impact the printing speed. Consider working with your IT team or network administrators to optimize network settings and eliminate any potential bottlenecks.

Server Performance: Evaluate the performance of your Azure server and printer server. Ensure that these servers have sufficient resources to handle the printing workload efficiently. If needed, you may consider scaling up or optimizing the server configurations to improve overall performance.

Print Queue Management: Check if there are any issues with the print queue or print spooler. Large print queues or stuck print jobs can cause delays. Clearing the print queue and restarting the print spooler service on the printer server may help in such cases.

It's worth mentioning that the overall printing speed can also depend on the complexity and size of the documents being printed. If the invoices or other documents contain a significant amount of data or graphics, it may take longer to process and print them.

Regarding the slowness experienced by others and potential solutions, I recommend reaching out to the D365FO user community, forums, or support channels. Other users may have encountered similar issues and could share their experiences and suggestions for improvement.

I hope these suggestions help in addressing the printing slowness. If you need further assistance or have additional questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

You need to install multiple DRA's one per printer would be best, there are also other options like Increase DRA polling frequency from 5 sec to 3.

We have also seen slowness specially in PROD enviornment and recommend to open support ticket.

It helped us, nothing we could do much in PROD and something MS/DSE did to fix it.

We are also experiencing the slow printing issue.
We are using a standard printer, but with check paper to print checks.

Sometimes it has taken up to 20 minutes for a check to be printed.

We have the latest DRA installed in an Azure/Print server.
The delay seems to be D365 sending the job to the DRA...  the printer itself prints quickly once the DRA receives the job.

No we haven't unfortunately. The IT manager wants to try and add more DRA's to see if that will help.

We have put the latest DRA in and have also discussed this with our partner and apparently it is a known issue that printing is slow in D365.

    Hi Sukrut,

We have currently one legal entity live on D365. I have asked our IT guy and he said he has one DRA per environment (thus one for production ) per printing server on our side. He said that is what he understood how the setup needs to be.

    Hi Udhaya,

Application is 7.3 and the platform is in production platform 12. I am in the process to add the binary and platform updates. Pre-production has it in already which is on Update15 (7.0.4841.41297).
