Enabling fields for field translation

Hi all

With CRM 2015 a new feature was introduced that allowed users to translate product names into other languages by using the "Export/import Field Translations" under Data Management. This is NOT to be confused with the god old Export/Import Translation feature with is available under Solutions. Using the Field Translation feature you can actually translate data and not just labels. Great in many ways if you can live the the limitations. It is described in this article.

The thing that made me curious when I read the article closely was this phrase:

"All product fields that are marked as localizable by default will be exported. Your internal developers can mark the fields as localizable. More information: Work with localizable attributes."

I'm looking at another scenario where I want to be able to translate the data in the name attribute on a custom entity. The comment in the article might suggest that there is some hidden attribute on fields that can be switched to enable the Field Translation feature on other fields than the Product.name field.

Can anyone confirm this?

The field translation limited to only product entity name attribute , unfortunately we can not translate custom entity field value.

    Hello Thomas,

Unfortunately that feature is only available for a select few attributes, you can read more about it here:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../localize-product-property-values

If your field is not of that type it does not work
