Additional Document Printing

Posted on by 10

Certain customers need to have certification documents printed when their packing slip prints out. Is it possible to tell GP to print these out automatically when Shipping does their part?

Do you want to print additional documents while SOP Blank packing slip prints out? It is possible but needs to know more about the type of document, it's length. Currently are you holding these documents in system, or it is saved outside of the system so these information is needed to know to define the possible solution for printing with report.

So, before we had automation to do this, I was able to accomplish something like this using SSRS and the web-based report manager. The user in shipping would have this open, enter the document number of the order being shipped, and that SSRS report would read the order and fill in what was necessary for the other shipping documentation that was needed.

Now, there is an Extender window linked to Customer Maintenance with a few checkboxes to select the documentation the customer always needs. Using Rockton Software's Dynamics Report Manager, the shipping users just print all of the packing tickets and pick lists at once from the Sales Batch Entry screen.

The setup checks those checkboxes in the Extender window and if it sees other documentation is needed, it prints it all on the fly. Less work for the user and all of the requests of the customer is all in GP.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi,

Were do those documents reside ? are they inside GP or located somewhere else on the network ? This could technically be done, considering there is a link somewhere that provide the document(s) name(s) that need to be printed out along the Packing Slip.
