Move Existing Install to Another Server

Hello,

I'm new to Navision. I've been asked by a company to move their existing Navision 5 platform from their onsite location to Azure.

The current server is a Hyper-V server so my plan was to take it offline, back it up and upload it to Azure. The question I have is
will the license follow it or will I need to re-apply it. I know some software applications will nullify the license on virtual servers if
they are moved. Is this the case with NAV 5?

Also, how can I tell where all the data that NAV references is stored. I know there is a SQL database and numerous Firebird database

files that I see paths to in the app. I also see that SQL references a file share on another server that holds images. Where can I go to
determine if there is any other share folders that I need to move?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Rob

The best option is that you take the license separately and upload it manually after re-deploying the database - it is very simple process. However, if you import the whole VM, the license should follow.

    Hi Rob,

    I agree with Nareshwar R.

NAV Stores all the Data Structure and Records in MSSQL Server for later than 2009 RTC version.

    Hi,

You need to save the license on DB before taking backup. I'm sure it works after NAV 2009. But NAV 5 is doubtful.
