Hi, does someone know if MS has release some standard functionality which will secure that businesses in UK can electronically transfer VAT return information directly from the digital VAT records to HMRC’s computer systems (known as ‘Functional Compatible Software’)?

    Hi Sam,

    This question was also asked about a week ago on this forum. MTD will be supported. Microsoft has plans to release it in Q1 2019. It will be available for D365FO and also AX 2012 R3.

    Hi Sam,

    You can go to LCS issue search and search for "VAT UK" or "Making Tax Digital". Then you will get some information about the planned release date.

    Does anyone know if Microsoft will solve this for AX2009?  Anyone know of a partner who have plugged it already?

    Hi Dave,

    Microsoft itself will probably not create a solution as the mainstream support has ended. Probably some partners will jump in, but I'm not aware which partners are working on something.

    Also this is a soft deadline of April 2019 with the full digital links required starting March 31, 2020 (from what I read).  Having researched this a bit over the week, the UK HMRC website has lots of details about the API they are using and the data format requirements.  

    Hopefully this will solved externally, but there might even be a chance for organizations with strong internal IT resources to self serve.

    In my opinion, there is no need to buy an add-on from another partner. Microsoft is adding MTD support for AX2012 and Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations in Q1 2019. If you are not running AX 2012 R3, you can upgrade or try to backport the MTD objects yourself.
