Work center load is not correct?

Posted on by
Hi all,

I tried setting up machine center and work center and follow instructions/guidance from Microsoft Learning/Design Docs/Youtube. However, I got stuck with the situation below and could not get my head around how machine center and work center supposed to work.

Background:

I set up 1 machine center (M100) and assigned to a work center 110, both have the same capacity as 5. Since there is only one machine center linked to this work center I didn't turn on the consolidated calendar toggle.

In my routing, I have 2 lines, one for work center and the other for machine center, both run parallel (another thing I don't get, I changed to the routing type to parallel but it requires at least 4 routing lines - 1 start, 1 end, 2 parallel, so I used send ahead quantity to get the same outcome).

Issue:

I created a released production then go back to both machine center and work center to check their load. It's correct for machine center, however for work center, the allocated quantity = quantity of work center and quantity of machine center. Yet the work center capacity is only just the capacity of work center => So when I put in the production order that used up all capacity, my machine center is showing negative balance

To put it in numbers:

WC capacity = 2400       Allocated Quantity = 4800  (WC + MC?)=> Balance = -2400
MC capacity = 2400       Allocated Quantity = 2400 (MC only) => Balance = 0

I thought WC allocated quantity should be 2400 only, why is it adding up MC allocated quantity also? Not sure where I set up wrong, should there be only machine center in routing since machine center is linked to WC?

Pics below for reference. I tried googling up on this topic but there topic is rarely mentioned so appreciate if any one could shed some light on this.

Thanks
