Dear,

I am using the MS Dynamics 365 and have to write the test steps to "Notify the accountant to put the calendar period on hold when  the ledger calender nears the end of the period"  . Please let me know the AX  navigation steps to achieve this.

    Hi Prabhu,

In D365FO, You can Navigate to below steps to perform on-hold or close the ledger calendar .

    1. Navigate to GL

    2.Calendars->Ledger calendar

3.Select the Fiscal calendar which is assigned to the ledger setup for the entity user is related to.

4.Select the period for which user wants to change the status.

5.Make the form editable (F2), Than select the entity below and click on update period status.

    6. If you want to update per module than select update per module status, refer below screenshot FYI.

    Hi,

With notify do you mean that an email /alert is created?

Would it not be simpler to put it as a recurring task/appointment in Outlook?

    Hi Magic1949,

    Fully agree :-)

An additional option in D365fO is the use of the financial period closing feature where users can setup tasks that they have to work on. Maybe that's another alternative in the standard application.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Sure- maybe step 1 is "don't forget to start".

Hi Ludwig, Thanks for quick response. I meant, the email alert should go to the finance controller from D365O  about the fiscal period nearing to end. Please let me know how to achieve this.

Thanks Narendra for your response. But the requirement is not put the period on hold. the AX should send an alert to the finance controller to put on hold

Dynamics 365 has introduced a very meticulous way of managing the financial closing period taks.

Go to General Ledger > Period Close > Financial period close configuration.

You can create closing schedules and closing tasks. You can assign resources to perform those tasks.

I've never met a finance controller who wasn't intimately aware of their fiscal period dates and didn't fully plan their job around month end processing.  If you need to remind your finance controller that the fiscal period is about to end, you need a new finance controller.

    Hi Prabhu

I will use the financial close workspace functionality where the task “fiscal period close” can be scheduled with a due date before month end.
