How to send mails from AX 2012 without Outlook ? (MAPI to SMTP)

Hi,

I would like to know how to send recurring monthly reports from AX 2012 to users directly through Email , without using outlook.

I have setup SMTP through GMAIL and it is working fine for Email broadcasting, but as Report mailing feature uses the MAPI configuration by default, it is invoking Outlook program and is not helping the requirement. Even if outlook would send mails from background, it would have been not an issue, but the mails always need confirmation from the user end to proceed, which beats the purpose of Auto Notifications.

Can anyone suggest/advice how to achieve this and if it's possible to convert the default MAPI configuration to switch to SMTP settings? If yes, please help me in the process.

If you will print report in batch it won't use outlook.

Another option is to do customization and change the way AX send reports through email. There is only one method to customize and probably you can google solution :)

    Hi ievgen,

Actually I did try batch processing the reports, but they seem to execute without any error, but no reports gets delivered. Have later found that the batch processing itself uses MAPI for delivering reports.

Regarding the customization, did try many suggestions found online, but something or other pops up as an error. Would be glad if you can suggest any authentic and working piece of code.

I don't have ready solution for you, maybe someone else here has, but probably its work for your devs or partner to do.

However batch uses smtp for 100%. Reason that email was not sent could be well-know bug with cc.

So you probably need to install this hf

KB 2979944Empty CC in an email that is sent using SysMailerNet quickSend with an attachment silently fail to send email

Though strangely I can't find that Hotfix KB 2979944  anywhere on the internet :/
