AX 2009 VPC

Hi!

I´m all new to AX 2009 and have just downloaded the VPC (refresh 2) to explore it all a bit. In the Role Center, all I can see is this:

"An error has occurred. Contact your administrator for further assistance"

(All I have done so far is to look in Administration --> Setup --> Internet --> web sites. Two internal URLs exist: http://sharepoint and http://sharepoint/EP. When trying to view in browser, I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".)

What do I need to do to get Role Centers and the Enterprise Portal to work?

Hi Marcus! I believe you must start related web sites by means of IIS. after that the Role Center must work fine.

    Hi,

I think you should run two VPCs if you are using the refresh 2.

I tried to use the latest one before. It seemed that the latest VPC seperates the database server from the AOS server. It is not a standalone server now.

why do you think so? Everything still works on the same VPC. Just double check it.

I just checked the VPC website. The AX-SRV-01 VPC contains 19 parts (17 parts before) now!

The previous AX 2009 VPCR2 RO  cannot work as the Database is on the other VPC AX-SRV-01_DB. It looks the Refresh 2 VPC has been updated again.

This is what you need to do:

In your VPC go to Start Menu > Administrative Tools > Services:

For each of the following services you need to right click on them and select "start":

    -SQL Server Analysis Services

    -SQL Server Reporting Services

    -World Wide Web Publishing Service

    Just check the next links:

    https://mbs.microsoft.com/customersource/downloads/servicepacks/vpcimageax2009sp1.htm

    and

    http://blogs.msdn.com/lcash/pages/tuning-the-startup-and-managing-memory-on-ax-srv-01.aspx

It will tell you all about the contents of the VPC and how to activate or deactivate (for performance reasons) some functionality

    regards,

    André

    Hi Mohamed.

    I experienced the same thing.

I was running the VPC under Hyper-V and did a wrong install. If you do not remove the network adapter when creating the virtual machine, the network configuration will be wrong and even though you are able to connect to the internet from the VM, sharepoint won't work.

    on:

     https://mbs.microsoft.com/partnersource/deployment/documentation/howtoarticles/presalesdemokitmdax2009.htm

    find the video:

Setting up the demo VM with Hyper-V

and follow the instructions. That solved the issue for me.
