Hi Experts,

How to identify the character encoding used in AX 2012 instance.

    It depends that which character encoding are you talking about.

    AX is prepared for Unicode and even right-to-left writing, and does support Asian kana-sensitive writing. These are all defined through what SQL Server Collation you are using.

    Another factor is what your current Windows Locale is, which will drive how characters sent back by SQL Server will be rendered.

    Also as you found out there are characters sets involved in some other specific tasks per functionality inside AX, such as the one you've mentioned, DIXF.
