Dynamics GP Limited License type help

Hello ,

We are in a plan to buy GP limited user type licenses and we have couple of below questions, can someone please help.

-->  With new limited licenses that we acquire, we are planning to configure existing users from Full User Type to Limited as all those users just need read only access, I made sure all these users have access to roles which comes with Limited user type so we are good there however i am not sure if we need to look for other issues when we change existing user type from Full to Limited other than they will get restricted access in GP ?

-->  For example we have 30 full user type licenses and 10 Limited user type licenses, there are 15 users configured as Limited user type and if all 10 Limited licenses
have been consumed and if there are full user type licenses are available then can 11th limited user be able to login to GP with available Full User type license ? or GP denies access
and gives error message to 11th limited user ?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Preetham

Full user licenses are concurrent licenses which means you can setup as many users as you want, however only the number of users that you have licenses for can log in. Using your example you say you have 30 full user licenses.

You can setup 40 users but only the first 30 users to log in will gain access to the system. The other 10 would have to wait until one of the first 30 exit the system and release a license so that the next user can log in.

Limited user licenses are named user licenses. If you have 10 limited user licenses you can only assign 10 licenses. You cannot assign more named user licenses than you have.

Open the user setup window. Click on Summary on the menu bar and you can see your license summary.

The above holds true for GP Perpetual licensing.  If you are on GP Subscription licensing then all user types are named users.
