Budget in a consolidated company account?

Hi,

I have a question regarding budget entries and compnay type. I've never worked with budgets i AX before so this is quite new to me.

Is it not possible to register a budget in a consolidated company account? Got all the lines created and the budget register are statused "Draft", but when updating budget balances, I got the message: Budget register entries cannot be processed for consolidated company accounts.

Is it just not possible or is it a way to get this done?

Hi Eirhane,

You cannot create new transactions or budgets in a consolidation company. In each legal entity you can create and maintain budgets. During the consolidation process, you can consolidate budget amounts into the consolidation company.

I am trying to consolidate budget (along with actual figures) but budget doesn't seem to be consolidating in the consolidation company. I am not sure it works; has anyone actually successfully consolidated budget from legal entity to consolidation.

Hello Silvano,

If you use Management Reporter as your consolidation tool, then you can include and consolidate actual and budget amounts.

Consolidating budget amounts should, however, also work if you work with the online consolidation in Dynamics. There is a specific paramter that needs to be turned on and the budget models need to be selected.

Hello Silvano,

Right, this is the parameter and I can see that you also selected the budget models.

If the budget model has budget amounts included for Jan 2019 then they should be considered in the online consolidation.

Can you double check that the budget model has active budget register entries included?

HI Ludwig,

There is a parameter, but in the consolidaiton company, ONLY BUDGET MODELS from CONSOLIDATION COMPANMY can be selected, so what's the purpose for consolidating budgets from consolidation company in the consolidation company? I guess what is expected is to be able to select Budget models from the companies user is consolidating.

You mentioned Management reporter, I guess that would be the best solution to consolidate Budgets.

Hi Irina and everybody,

I have just checked that all the companies and consolidation company should have created the same BUDGET models, I mean, with the same code, if user would like to consolidate Budget amounts:

Example in Contoso environment:

Budget models in USMF:

Budget models in DEMF:

Budget models in GLMF (Consolidation company):

Running the consolidation process, D365F&O only shows the Budget Models from Consolidation company, but if the same code is created in the rest of companies, Budget amounts will be included into the consolidation.

Tricky process, but that's what it is :-)

The consolidation is not working if the main account is not a budget dimension. This was the issue in my case.
