Sales tax is not recalculating on a Sales Order after the item quantities have been edited?

Client is using GP 2015. They sometimes need to edit a Sales Order item quantity prior to transferring the order to an Invoice. They have noticed that after some of the item quantity changes that the GP Sales Tax is still calculating upon the original Order total rather than the revised Order total.

Is there a setting that is missing in the Sales Tax setup that would help capture these changes?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

    And no customizations?

I agree with Leslie, it feels like something is interfering with the normal GP behavior. :-(

Using GP Sales Taxes not a 3rd Party.

Are they using a 3rd party app, maybe something like Avalara, to calculate their taxes?

I think the Item expanded view does show shipping method and Tax Schedule ID

I will connect with the client to confirm

    Hi,

I'm presuming you have not changed the Company Options related to using the shipping method to calculate sales tax. On the Line item, if you expand the item, does it show both a Tax Schedule ID AND a shipping method? If so, what is the delivery type for the shipping method?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

The item says it not taxable on the purchase and to use the customer setting on the Sale.

The footer section that contains the Tax and the Blue jump arrow do not seem to be editing based on changes in the subtotal.

    thanks

What you are describing is not the normal behavior for SOP. If you change the quantity, the extended price should change. That change will cause the tax engine to run. Something else is interfering with the standard behavior if this isn't happening. There could be something wrong with the taxability settings on the item. What does it read on the Item card with regard to taxability?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Hello!

The tax should be calculating for each line, even if the quantity is being changed.  Are there any 3rd parties integrating into SOP?  Triggers on SOP tables?  This behavior is definitely standard GP Core.

    Please advise.

Just to verify, Yes they are  tabbing off the line which calls the tax engine.

Additionally at a later time the Line item quantity is being edited.  After the edit the script is not recalling the tax engine to update the taxes based on the modified quantity.

Is this operating within the anticipated norm for SOP?

Should the User just remember to modify the taxable sales on the taxes screen?

    Hi,

GP calculates the sales tax one SOP line at a time. Is your client tabbing off of the line thereby running the script that calls the tax engine?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
