Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations as a back office for a bank

Does anyone have a Bank using F&O as the Finance Back Office system for a Bank - please let me know if you do!  There are lots of stories about other Microsoft Technologies including Dynamics 365 Customer Relationship but nothing on Finance for the Back Office.

I have the same question (0)

Thanks Ravi - I'll keep pushing them but we don't have any down here in Australia!

    Cheers

They usually have SAP at the backoffice and look how well are doing banks like Deutsche Bank (Transfering billions by error or near to become the next Lemans Brother). For small banks F&O could be interesting but if I were a big bank I would implement by own Back Office using Azure or Azure Stack as infraestructure and using some of the technologies available there.

    Hi John,

There is a bank on Malta using Dynamics AX 2009. It was initially implemented by Crimsonwing. We did a few years some support for them. Nowadays, they are supported by a local party in Malta.

Personally, I was never involved, so don't know what they use exactly.

    Hi John

We (HITACHI Solutions) has deployed Microsoft Dynamics AX and Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations for several banks in North America and Asia Pacific. While I can't provide customer names, areas of the ERP implemented include

    - General Ledger

    - Accounts Payable

    - Management Reporting

    - Statutory Reporting

    - Asset Management (for Investment management) - proprietary software from Hitachi

    - Fixed Assets

    - Purchase Requisitions

    - Purchasing

    André

Thank you very much for sending me this information - I knew that there had to be some out there somewhere and a few are starting to emerge.  Your information will be most helpful in giving my prospect comfort that Banks have been using the solution for many years and that its structure definitely fits their type of organisation.

    Most appreciated,

    Kind regards

Sandeep - thank you for the information!  It will help me a lot in establishing the bona fides of Dynamics 365 F&O for a bank.  I have found lots of evidence for Dynamics CRM like functionality but little on Finance and Operations or AX.  A couple of questions (1) are you able to give me an idea of the geographic region, size and type of (retail, investment, corporate...)  Banks they represent (2) Does Hitachi offer & support the Asset Management proprietary solution in Australia?

    Kind regards

We support a Swiss bank on older versions.

A few things to be aware:

As a back office for finance for the bank's internal purchases and expenses Ax /D365 will work well.

Banks however have complex statutory reporting requirements e.g. Basel l, ll and lll , FATCA etc. The data from those will come not only form fiancé but multiple front office systems. Typically this needs a specialist solution with workflow and ETL processes, risk calculation engine, etc  and should be outside your scope. its not something you can do with just MR or Power BI.

Banks have tight security and you may find you can only work at their premises under CCTV  monitoring and recording.

They will generally have complex contracts they expect you to enter into - so agree or at least be aware of the contractual terms before committing to prices. They might e.g. expect you to move your ban account to them - difficult to refuse if you want their business- painful if you then don't deliver and they freeze your account.
