D365FO- On-Premise Installation

I am new to D365. I am looking for the step by step instruction for installation of D365FO on-premise.

I need to set-up an on-premise environment for development.

Can someone help me in getting the correct hardware and software details?

Can on-premise environment be setup using the VM hosted locally or do we need a physical system?

Also wanted to know if Azure hosted environment is same as on-premise or is it different?

    Hey, You might already have the answers, however, I will share my experiences. 
     
     
    For development, you can download the VHD file and host on Hyper V.
     
    User OS Windows Server 2019 or higher. 
    VM can be hosted on Hyper V and SQL Servers if needed host on physical Host of VM. 
    Azure hosted environments and on-premises servers are different in my opinion like Azure hosted environments will have unique environment name where as in on-premises you will same, you need to change later on.
