deferred schedule

Hello,

we are trying to use deferred schedule for prepaid items,  it looks like once the schedule is created, it's posting to all future accounting periods.
is there anyway to create the schedule but NOT posting? we would like to run them every month.  don't like the idea of posting to future P&L
is there a setting we can adjust or some workaround?

thank you!

    Hello @Chow,

Can you specify which Dynamics 365 Product are you using?

    Hello @Chow,

In Business Central, deferred schedules automatically create future postings once the source document is posted, but they only post to the G/L when you run the Post Deferred Revenue/Expenses batch job. By default, the system schedules all future entries but does not post them to the P&L until that batch job is executed. To control monthly recognition without hitting future periods, simply generate the deferral schedule, then run Post Deferred Revenue/Expenses each month for the period you want to recognize. There is no setting to stop schedule creation, but avoiding automatic posting is achieved by manually running the batch job.

Hope this answer will help you!

    Regards,
    Mansi Soni

    Hello,

Deferral functionality automatically posts all future deferral entries when the invoice is posted, which can lead to future P&L postings that some businesses prefer to control manually.

Unfortunately, there’s no built-in setting to delay or schedule these postings.

You can either manually manage prepaid expenses through journal entries or develop a custom solution that stores the deferral schedule and posts entries monthly via a batch job.

The Subscription Billing module may offer more flexibility, but for standard deferrals, customization is the recommended workaround.
