Compatibility of AX 2009 RTM with Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Service Pack 1

Hi

I need to upgrade the operating system of my AOS server for AX2009 to Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Service Pack 1.

I have not found any documentation confirming that the Service Pack 1 is supported on AX 2009 RTM.

AX 2009 Kernel Version 5.0.593.0

Is Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Service Pack 1 compatible with my AX 2009 version?

I am specifically querying the SP1 as I know from MS documentation that Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise is compatible with the RTM version

Thanks

Thanks for your reply. yes I have seen this article before but it only specifies the following AX 2009 versions that are compatible and not the RTM AX 2009 version.

    Windows Server 2008 R2 P1

    AX 4.0 SP2
      AX 2009 SP1

I have installed a Test environment with AX 2009 RTM on Server 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1 and the AOS and Client installed successfully however I wanted to confirm that I will not have any support issues down the line because my operating system is incompatible with AX 2009 RTM

Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition, Web Edition, or Datacenter Edition. Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2008 R2 is supported, but not required.

Nevertheless your kernel is more than 7 years (!!!) old. You should update it ASAP. Also note that mainstream support for RTM version's already ended - you should upgrade to a newer version.

Regarding "I wanted to confirm that I will not have any support issues down the line because my operating system is incompatible with AX 2009 RTM": The OS is not your concern. The fact that your version of AX isn't supported anymore is what you should deal with.

    Thanks for your response.

I have seen this doc but are these system requirements for all AX 2009 versions irrespective of RTM or not?

We have tried upgrading to AX 2012 R2 and it has been a nightmare, so that project has been parked for now even after enlisting MS resources and our Partner.

As far as I know, AX 2009 RTM wasn’t certified for Windows 2008 R2 SP1,  it stopped certification in Windows 2008 R2 ( without any SP).

You don't necessarily upgrade to AX 2012, if you can't do it for any reason. You can upgrade to Service Pack 1 of AX 2009 (probably with Rollup Update 8), which is still supported by Microsoft.
