Planning with Blanket Purchase Orders

Hi,

is it possible, in the BC Planning feature, take into account the Blanket Purchase Orders as well and not only the Purchase Orders?

And if yes, does the system propose to issue a new indipendent puchase order or proposes to create it from an existing Blanket Purchase Order?

Thanks

Fabrizio

    Hello Fabrizio

Although you cannot use blanket purchase orders directly, you can expose this field on the planning worksheet, which should help identify where blanket POs exits:

If you click through, it will open purchase lines with document type 'Blanket Order' and outstanding quantity <>0.

    I hope that helps!

We use BPOs with our subcontractors as Purchasing forecasts and from them we create the binding POs, whenever is necessary an according to the commercial agreements.

So, for us, the challenge is that, when the system proposes a new purchasing, we have to remember to create the new PO from an existing BPO, or anyway to bind it to the BPO afterwards otherwise the BPO won't be "consumed" as expected and will loose its purpose.

Yes, that is true...but also forecast (sales side) that is taken into account if the relative field is filled in, is not a binding contract or agreement.

Anyway, whatever is the reason, I see that is not possible...it would be nice to have blanket orders taken into account, at least as an optional field, like the forecast.

    Hi,

It's not possible. I think blanket order is not so *firmed* order, so planning feature should not count blanket order.

    I hope this helps you.

    It is not possible.

If You know that You will need to Purchase those items, You can already create the Purchase orders from a Blanket order. Then those orders will be taken into account.

"The main reason for using a blanket order rather than a purchase order is that quantities entered on a blanket order do not affect item availability"

You would need to ask your partner for a customization in the planning process calculation - but that will require quite some time to get familiar with the process and can be easily messed up.
