Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service Map issues

Hi Team,

I am Microsoft Dynamics CRM developer. Recently started working on Field Service module. Please find the existing functionality and expectation below.

Existing Functionality:

We have different booking statuses in our Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service system. Whenever Field Service Technician gets booking, he changes the status to “Travelling” and open the Map navigation in mobile Field Service app and start travel. Once he reaches the destination, he manually changes the status to “Travel Completed”.

Expectation:

Once Field Service Technician reaches destination, can Map identify the location and change the status to “Travel Completed” automatically?

I have the same question (0)

Please search Field Service documentation for "Geofencing". It should be possible to implement your requirement by leveraging this functionality.

    Hi,

I had the same problem once but then someone suggested to me a dynamics plugin that will solve the above problem. I used MappyField 365 For Dynamics CRMWith support for Power Apps, the Dynamics CRM mapping plugin MappyField 365 enables users to view CRM data on the map (CDS). A simple-to-integrate plugin that offers features like quickest path first, territory management, geo-analytical dashboard, live user monitoring, heat maps, and more to help sales and marketing managers successfully oversee the day-to-day operations of their teams.

You can just give it a try!

    I hope this helps!

I will second what Moko suggested, which is using Geofencing. This is a built-in part of Field Service and it can be used to trigger events when a resource is within a specified number of miles of your location.

Step 1: Make sure that you have enabled the GPS tracking of resources based on their mobile device, including off times when they are not tracked
Step 2: Create your geofences based on how close to the final location you want your switch to occur
Step 3: Create a Power Automate flow that will run when the resource is flipped to being "inside" the Geofence. The flow can be used to automatically set the booking record to "Travel Complete" for a status

I have used this process before not only for setting the travel status, but also for resources who travel outside of the geofence after a job is done but have not yet marked the booking as completed. Whether you flip the status automatically, or send them a push notification reminding them to do it themselves, either way should work to meet your requirement.
