Hi All,

I can login into Visual Studio subscription using the below link:

https://my.visualstudio.com/?auth_redirect=true

but while connecting to Visual Studio with same account in D365FO DEV environment getting the below error:

"Your extended trial has expired. License with an online account or a product key".

Please advise , how can I get the access to VS using my organization account(having access to Visual studio subscription).

I cannot see any product key in my account in Visual studio subscription.

Regards,

Akbar

    Hi Akbarpasha,

when you login to my.visualstudio, com, do you actually see a Visual Studio subscription there in the "My subscriptions" page? You need to have at least Visual Studio Professional. If you see only "Visual Studio Dev Essentials", you know that you don't actually have any paid subscription and therefore are not entitled to use VS on the D365FO dev VMs. If this is the case, you need to purchase a Visual Studio subscription.

    Thank you Nikolaos for information.

I have only "Visual Studio Dev Essentials" not the "Visual Studio Professional" in Subscription page.

Is there anyway for trail access using personnel accounts?

    Please advice.

    Regards,

    Akbar

Yes, VS has 90 day trial but most likely you already used it.

Anyway, as the D365 licensing guide says, you need at least VS Professional when you do D365FO development. So your company needs to purchase these licenses for the D365FO developers.

    Hi Nikolaos,

We are arranging VS license , which one we need to select VS2017 or VS 2019,

Our D365FO environments versions are :

    Production :

    Application release : 10.0.22
    Platform release : PU46 (7.0.6164.49)

    Dev :

Application release : Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (10.0.20)
    Platform release : Update44 (7.0.6060.45)
    Regards,
    Akbar

I think you should rather buy a Visual Studio subscription instead of individual product license. This will allow you to use both 2017 and 2019, and many other things such as Azure DevOps which you also need.

About which Visual Studio version you need right now - just check which version you have on the dev VM.

But be aware that starting from 10.0.21 (October 2021) version, new D365 VMs will contain Visual Studio 2019. Older versions contain VS 2017.

    Thank you Nikolaos,

We have VS2017 in DEV environment, if we purchase VS2019 will it help in VS 2017?

No, but if you purchase a Visual Studio subscription you can activate both VS2017 and VS2019 with it.
