Debugging in Test system

Hi,

We have a tier 2 environment for testing. But how to debug in this environment? Even though I can RDP to this server, but how can I debug this?

I can use my normal account (tentant\userid) to log in the environment from Browser, and I only get the VM admin account (builtin\Admin625a61d69e) to log into the VM. How can I debug the code using my tenant account in the VM?

Thanks,

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Yuji,

On the tier2 environment ,you should login the UAT database and add your IP address of the developer environment to a whitelist.

Then back in your developer environment and edit the web.config file.

Now that your environment is correctly reconfigured, you can open Visual Studio and set a breakpoint in the application code that best meets your needs.

Notice that do not start batch service otherwise your batch jobs of development box will start writing into UAT environment. Be careful with this step!

For more details, please follow the following article,

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/unified-operations/dev-itpro/database/dbmovement-scenario-debugdiag

    Best regards,

    Will

    Thanks Will,

Do we need the admin right to launch VS 2015 when debugging?

Yes, and you can create a new user account to develop on the VM.

Debugging  not possible on tier 2 environment but you can connect to Database of that environment from your dev machine and should be able to debug.  make sure you do not perform Sync operation when you connect directly  from your dev to tier 2 database and as Will said stop batch service.  Always start VS as admin irrespective of what you are doing.

Right click VS open properties > click on advance button >and click Run as Admin check on on that window. So that you dont have to do that always.

One interesting thing is - I have a tenant account (e.g. contoso\yuji), and I use the Admin account information which is listed on the LCS (builtin\Admin625a61d69e) to RDP to the VM.

However when I use the F&O within the VM, F&O automatically help me to log in using my tenant account (contoso\yuji), how the VM link my tenant ID to the VM?

The browser remembers which logins you used in the past. So it knows that only because you have used this login already before when signing in the D365FO from within that VM.

Sukrut Parab  have you tried connecting to a Tier 2 DB in a different tenant? (I tried, also replaced following values in web config: AdminPrincipalName, Aad.AADTenantId)

Are there any additional steps besides these? or is this possible at all?

    Thanks in advance

Just learnt the following: In the link, there are ip address, that are needed for the configuration

    learn.microsoft.com/.../connectivity-architecture

    Had to do the following:

    1.AzureSQLGtwy for Port 1433

2.AzureSQLOutbound with Destination Service tag (if connecting to a Tier2 DB  that has a different Environment region from DEV VM)
