How do I track resource/vehicle maintenance costs

Hello,

I am a novice in the Field Service module, no real project experience but I understand the fundamental characteristics of the module.

I have therefor a few questions related to a customer that uses electric vehicles for deliveries.

They will need to track each part of the vehicle and their maintenance costs, e.g.

  • when changing battery
  • usual maintenance (changing parts)
  • etc

and see this maintenance history for each vehicle.

So my question is there some standard functionality in Field Service that delivers this or is the best practice to setup a custom table and track it there?

Second issue is that each vehicle will be setup as a warehouse that drops off items during delivery, is there a way to track these items, through their serial no for example? Say for instance that a certain batch of items needs to be recalled, what is the best way of finding these.

Thanks.

I have the same question (0)

let me start out with the first item.  I would have your fleet / vehicles also be included as Assets.  From there, you can schedule maintenance and track history along with costs.

On serialization of items.  That is NOT included out of the box.  You can either build it custom or you can get a 3rd party solution to do so, such as RSM's Serialized Inventory solution.

Create an incident type for the work type, which you can link inspection forms to. Within that inspection form you can have a checklist of information that is recorded against the asset upon inspection (questions/checks etc)

Create your asset types & assets, which would be the vehicles.

Create an agreement for the vehicles to generate reoccurring maintenance/tasks that would generate work orders at set frequencies for MOT/Services/Checks etc.

Add in service tasks linked to an incident to the agreement (the incident type would automatically pull in that inspection form as they can be linked) and associate it to the asset.

You should get a combination of reoccurring vehicle work orders that are linked to an asset, which generate a history of inspection/checks for you to track.
