System Admin only can see product catalog, but not edit products?

We are using Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM. I have system Admin right, but when I'm trying to edit Product Catalog products, the system says I only have read access. What could be wrong?

    Hi @TL-27040907-0,

If you already have the System Administrator security role, you should normally have sufficient permissions to edit Product Catalog records.

First check the state of the product. If the product has already been published/activated, try using Revise before making changes. Also, verify that you are using the expected Product Catalog/Sales Hub app and that there isn't a custom security role or customization affecting the product form.

If the issue still occurs, you could check the user's assigned security roles and the Product table privileges, particularly the Write privilege.

    Hope this helps.

Having the System Administrator role usually guarantees full access, so this is most likely tied to the Product record state, not your security role. Here's how to narrow it down:

    1. Check the Product's state

    • Products in Draft are fully editable.
    • Once a product is Active/Published or Under Revision, most fields become locked.
    • If your product is Active, click Revise on the command bar first, then edit — this is expected Dataverse behavior for the Product entity, not a permissions bug.

    2. Use the "Check Access" button Your screenshot already shows this option in the command bar — click it. It will tell you the exact privilege (e.g. Write) that's missing on this specific record, which is far more reliable than guessing.

    3. Verify role assignment

    • Confirm System Administrator is assigned directly to your user, not only inherited through a team, business unit, or security group sync that hasn't applied yet.

    4. Rule out the "Mobile read-only" banner Your screenshot shows: "Mobile read-only setting is enabled for UCI, and you will see some buttons missing and the form as read-only." This is a separate offline/mobile configuration. Confirm it isn't unintentionally affecting this session/app module, as it explicitly causes read-only forms and missing buttons.

    5. Check for customizations Rule out any custom Business Rule, JavaScript, or field-level security profile forcing read-only regardless of role.

    Recommended order to troubleshoot:

    1. Check Access → confirms/denies a real privilege issue
    2. Check Product state → Revise if Active
    3. Verify role assignment (direct vs. team)
    4. Rule out mobile read-only setting
    5. Check for business rules/JS/field security

Hope this narrows it down quickly!

If the product is Active, don't try to edit it directly. Use Revise first. If a confirmed Dataverse System Administrator still cannot see/use Revise, then I would treat it as an application/product-catalog configuration or customization issue, rather than a normal security-role issue.

Check the product's state first  if it's Active, click Revise before editing; also that "Mobile read-only setting enabled for UCI" banner in your screenshot will force read-only forms even for a System Admin, so verify that setting too.
    Thanks!

Check whether the Product is already Published/Active

This is another very important possibility with Product Catalog.

Dynamics 365 treats products differently once they have been published. For a published product, you generally use Revise to create an editable draft/revision and then make changes.

Microsoft's product documentation specifically describes using Revise on an existing published product before changing its product-family relationship.

    So check the product's:

    Status / Status Reason

    If it is something like

    Active / Published

look at the command bar for:

    Revise

rather than trying to directly edit the published product.

If you have system admin or customizers roles you have sufficient  privilege to customize   the product family and bundle.

Need to reverify and act accordingly

Problem has been solved. Problem was: Under products, unified filed was ticket as read-only stage.
