Purchase and Sell BOM items

Hello,

I have an an item say furniture, it consists of 1 table and 2 chairs. now if i want to purchase them in PO line i will enter furniture and receive and invoice. On receipt the inventory of furniture item will increase and not the bom components. Now if I explode the bom in PO line and receive the inventory of bom components will increase and not of bom item. which is the correct way?

    Hi Naveen,

    This is a topic which could have a long discussion about how to deal with it in your application. If you tell AX to explode the BOM, it will replace the original order line with all BOM components. So if you did this, AX is doing correctly a receipt on BOM component level.

    If you need to purchase the furniture item, you should not explode the BOM. Possibly the vendor should have separate order lines. In that case you can receive the BOM components and use a "Bill of Materials" journal to transfer the components to the furniture stock.

    I'm simulating your solution, I received a PO consisting 1 table and 2 chairs. Now, in BOM journal I added three items, 1 table item and 1 chair item with qty 2, and BOM item furniture set with check mark on 'BOM Line' field. Now when i try to post BOM journal it gave me the error 'At least one journal line (BOM line) must be attached to this line.' so in the journal for the bom line under journal tab there is 'Finished item lot id' dropdown this gave me lot ids of two items mentioned in BOM journal, I select one lot id. now when i validate it gives me the same error, 'At least one journal line (BOM line) must be attached to this line.' what might be the issue?
