Approving the Posting of a Journal Entry

(0) ShareShare

Hi:

In a Business Central environment, the person entering the journal entry should require another user to approve the posting.

The user that entered the journal entry should not be posting the entry without someone else’s approval.

How is this set up in Business Central?

Thanks!

John

It ultimately comes down to approval requirements for the journal batch/line. Generally, you can setup an approval workflow for General Journal Lines. The user would enter the journal then send the batch or lines for approval. You can read more on workflows:  docs.microsoft.com/.../across-use-workflows

You can create a new workflow based on one of the General Journal Templates for a start.

Hi, You can try using the standard Workflow template.

If you want to customize, there is a similar function in the project I have participated in before, you can refer to the manual. (Page 204~)

Journal approval is not based on a amount. You can choose to use Direct Approver or Workflow User Group. I just setup workflows where most of the staff's journals could be approved by the manager but the manager's journal had to be approved by someone in a workflow group. We had two approval workflows, each checked to see who created the batch and then that was used to identify the approval flow.

    Hi Dallefeld

You mentioned "We had two approval workflows, each checked to see who created the batch and then that was used to identify the approval flow." how you set the workflow to determine who created the batch? Can you share an example?

    Thanks

There is a field that you can filter on....

Thanks Kim, If I understand this correctly it is not dynamic, it is based on filter that user set there.
