Hi All,

I am facing a strange error while AX Database synchronization.

I started the sync and below screen appears.

I do not get the buttons visible to continue the sync.

I tried restart of AOS,SQL and performing the DB sync again.

    Hi SAA,

    :-)

This is because , it is taking time for processing.

How much time did you wait before restarting AOS?

Did you tried after re-starting AOS?

I was waiting for about 10mins before restarting the AOS.

yes I tried after the restart.

Now I got the same window again and I will wait for some time and then see.

is there anything else to look at???

I don't think it's strange..because sometime screen will go to not responding mode for half an hour also then it will show synchronising window.

sometimes while compiling, the screen will be under not responding mode until it finishes compilation.

So wait for some more time.

The typical db sync time is 10-15 minutes for the first pass, then another 10 minutes for the second pass on a typical system. However, if low on memory or drive is too slow these time can increase substantially. Also, if this is the first time you sync or coming after some configuration changes that can take longer.

I would suggest to open Task Manager and look at the CPU / memory consumption for the Ax32.exe / Ax32Serv.exe - this is the most easy thing to do. You can open Resource monitor for a better view of the processes and disk monitoring - that is more complex.

Let me make some points clear again.

    1. AX client is not going to "not responding state"

    2. There is no processing icon in the task bar (bottom right corner) which normally appears while running the sync.

    3. My env has 56GB RAM and also memory/CPU utilization does not go beyond 35%

My concern is there is no process going in the background but still the windows does not show the buttons.

When doing db syncs AX is not necessarily going into the Processing mode ...

Alright, I understand your concern, you were mentioning in the initial post about a screenshot? I do not see one - can you upload it again?

Is this the first time you do a DB sync? If not, this is the first time it happens? Have you done changes in the Data Dictionary or License Configuration? Can you leave it running for let's say 20 minutes?

I waited all over the weekend :(

Just wanted to share some more information.

This VM is hosted in Azure deployed via LCS and a demo VM.

    Hi,

Have you run a full CIL compilation with no errors, before running DB sync?

Have you tried to clean your "Usage data" and then run the DB sync?

It may be a visualization issue. Let me know if it helps.

Well, you may be right in it is a strange issue. The screen you are showing is indeed the screen between the two phases of the sync, and of course, is the screen where you would review the changes in the physical database, and press Continue or Cancel. I do not think this is fixable by standard means. I would suggest you open a case with Microsoft.
