Looking for salesquote document handeling (add-on)

Hi,

I am interested in a way that allows us to select a specific document by browsing within a sales quote. After this document has been selected we must be able to fully edit the document to our own specific needs (full word editing capabilities). As soon as we were to hit close, the selected document is imported (with the made changes). If we were to hit “send sales quote”, the selected and edited document will be send to the concerned customer.

Is there any kind of add-on you guys know about that can help me with my issue?

Thanks in advance,

Roeland

To me this looks pretty much as the standard functionality of SharePoint portal. You can use it for storing your Words documents and edit them. You can store the links to those documents in the NAV sales quotes in the comments or notes fields.

You can use the Links to attach the documents for the record and it will allow you open and edit the document which is a standard functionality Please check the below link for more information

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh879051(v=nav.90).aspx

Regarding sending the document to customer you can use Email Functionality and make a small customization to attach those documents to the email

The reason I am trying to find a solution for this, is to get rid of a second program we use to handle this process at the moment.  Ofcourse SharePoint can be linked to NAV but we rather stick to one software system.

We have seen the solution to our problem working in another company but their software supplier only offers an entire package (not add-ons) and only supports charity organizations. Do you think my request is easy to build for NAV developers? Or will it require hours and hours of labourcosts?

    Thanks in advance,

    Roeland

Thank you for your reply. This solution however does not create an edited copy of the original template (stored inside the database) which will forever be linked to a specific sales quote. Your method overwrites the original file and also does not support (automatically fills) embedded fields inside the word document.
