Display dynamic range of accounts in financial reports - management reporter

Hello,

I would like to create an income statement showing a range of accounts, dynamically, in the format shown below.

I will explain in detail what I mean by displaying dynamic range in a bit. Currently the report has been set up largely by me going to Edit>Insert Rows from Dimension and adding a range of accounts a per the example below. This seems to insert rows for all accounts existing in the given range. However it seems to me that if we were to add an account within the range provided, that would not be added to the report.

To clarify what I mean by dynamic range of accounts here is an example. If we have a post in the report for which we want to insert accounts 1000:1003, but currently only account 1000, 1001, 1003 exists, if we were to add account 1002 at a later date we would want that account to now be taken into account and shown in the report (provided that there is an amount to show of course)

I know you can add a range of, or a combination of, dimension on a row. This seems to be dynamics (and would include 1002 at a later date per the example above) but it does not display the report in a layout that gives us an overview of each account, as shown in picture above.

Is this possible, and what is the best way to create a financial report with dynamic content relating to accounts?

Kindly,
O

    Hello Oskar,

The best and easiest way to handle this is making use of account categories for your report setup.

MS ships a number of default reports that make use of account categories rather than ranges of accounts.

The advantage of doing that is that whenever a new account is created, you only need to make sure that it is assigned to the correct account category in order to get correctly fetched and included in your report.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Thank you for this advice Ludwig,

This would require me to somehow map the wanted accounts to an different account categories?

Would this be able to show with the same layout as in the picture i posted? Seeing one row for each account that is, rather than one row of the aggregated value of all the accounts in a account category?

    Hello Oskar,

The mapping that you have to make is in the CoA where you have to assign the different accounts to the main account categories.

The next screen-prints exemplify how this mapping works and how your financial report can be setup.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
